On A Mountain Peak

This was as well one of the absolute peaks of my journey to Norway this summer. I had done my first climb up to Preikestolen. But I felt I wanted to go even higher, before the sunset. I went higher and off track. Then I saw there was a couple who was having a tent up there. My first thought was to give them some privacy and to go in another direction. But then they started to wave to me to come. They were very welcoming, and I felt they were sincerely happy to share their space with me. And it was indeed a beautiful spot they had found. The sun was on its way down and we had a spectacular view of the mountains which turned red and golden. Some of my favorite photos from the trip came from that moment. The one above is one of them.

We are all part of each others journey through life. And how we act will affect the journey of those we meet. The small things matter. A smile can become a peak of that persons day.

The woman also gave me food, with their favorite spices that they had picked up from a trip to Kambodja. It was really a beautiful meeting, but at some point I had to start my trip back down. It was starting to get dark, and it could be potentially dangerous to go down. Then the guy was caring enough to offer me to borrow his head lamp. And even if I had another lamp with me, that one was so much better since I could have my hands free.

I felt grateful to have experienced both that beautiful landscape, and for the open hearts of the couple on the mountain peak. They made that peak. It’s good to remember that we are all part of each others journey through life. And how we act will affect the journey of those we meet. The small things matter. A smile can become a peak of that persons day.
